Musicians
Leszek Helinski
A guitarist of Polish origin, I am a graduate of the Conservatoire Supérieur de Musique de Poznan (Poland) and the Conservatoire Royal de Musique de Liège (Belgium).
Generously welcomed by Belgium, I have lived there since 1986 and currently teach guitar in various music schools.
As a finalist in several Polish competitions in the 1980s, I founded the “Poznan Guitar Duo” (Poland). Later I became a member of the guitar trio “Cadenza” (Belgium), which in 1996 recorded a CD containing only original pieces for 3 guitars. This was a world premiere.
With these two ensembles, I have performed at numerous concerts and festivals as well as on Radio “Musique 3” (RTBF-Belgium).
As a composer, I am a member of Sabam and author of several guitar methods.
I have also written numerous pieces for beginners, experienced guitarists ; also for my own program as well as for the trio “Emotivo Guitars”.
My works are characterised by the presence of very intense emotions. I always compose them as a result of spontaneous inspiration. In a style close to film music, my guitar compositions touch and surprise the audience with the refined poetry of their melodies and harmonies.
For our trio, I like to add elements of popular music (tango, milonga, latino, celtic, blues).
Meeting and working with my two musician friends Simon and Maverick in “Emotivo Guitars” is one of the best experiences of my life.
I really appreciate their great musical culture and the deep emotional commitment to the perfection of the interpretation of my compositions.
Having the opportunity to share with you the atmosphere of our beautiful music is the only thing that is still missing from my happiness.
I am already looking forward to experiencing these unforgettable moments of complicity with the public.
Maverick Collaro
As a passionate guitarist, I enjoy opening up to many different musical styles: jazz, flamenco, classical…
I studied at the Conservatory of Huy (Belgium) in my youth and then obtained, with honours in 2018, at the Royal Conservatory of Music of Liege (Belgium), my didactic master in classical guitar.
With great pleasure, I am currently a teacher (of classical guitar and guitar accompaniment) at the Conservatoire de Huy (where it all began) and I was looking for a project that would be close to my heart and in which I could flourish.
Knowing Simon already, and meeting Leszek, the creation of our trio was an obvious choice…
Emotivo Guitars represents us through our musical connivance and emotion, stemming from our different life learnings.
Working alongside my two sidekicks has also allowed me to stretch myself and understand the rich culture of the guitar to make it an asset in my playing.
Life is a constant learning process and I thank them for teaching me some of that.
I look forward to sharing our world with you. I look forward to sharing this with my friends and colleagues Simon and Leszek, but also with you.
Simon Charlier
Versatile and eclectic guitarist, I was born and raised in the Belgian Ardennes where, at the age of 7, I started learning music and guitar at the Saint-Hubert academy.
Later, I wanted to make it my profession and, at the age of 18, I entered the Royal Conservatory of Music in Liege (Belgium) where I discovered the rigour and diligence necessary to become a professional musician.
At the Conservatory, I obtained my Master’s degree in classical guitar, but above all I had a lot of enriching musical experiences, I met Maverick with whom we had already collaborated for a duo project.
I also had the chance to participate in Michel Massot’s “Chamber Rock” orchestra, which gave me a lot of experience, especially on the rhythmic level.
I also play the electric guitar and I am relatively open to different styles. I like to play everything, and I think the guitar is an exceptional instrument for that.
It is present in a lot of different styles: from rock to reggae, from African music to gypsy jazz.
I also compose pieces for solo guitar inspired by folklore and popular music.
Later I met Leszek who liked my compositions and proposed his project to me. I immediately loved his pieces and quickly thought of Maverick to complete this trio.
I find everything I like in this trio: a lot of musicality, rhythm and sincerity both in its members and in its music.
I am very much looking forward to offering you our music and to sharing with my friends, but also with you, these moments of magic that we try to produce together.
